ABSTRACT:
Wastewater treatment is a crucial process for protecting public health and the environment by removing contaminants from domestic, industrial, and agricultural wastewater. Rapid urbanization, industrial growth, and population increase have significantly increased wastewater generation, making effective treatment techniques essential. This research paper presents a comprehensive study of wastewater treatment techniques, including preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary (advanced) treatment methods. The paper discusses conventional and modern treatment technologies, their working principles, advantages, limitations, and applications. Emphasis is also given to sustainable and advanced treatment methods such as membrane technologies and biological nutrient removal. The study concludes with future trends in wastewater treatment for sustainable water management.
